Welcome Violet Riley Tozer

On October 8, 2013, math teacher and sixth grade advisor Ryan Tozer and his wife, Natalie, celebrated the birth of their first child, Violet Riley Tozer. A few staff writers asked Mr. Tozer to give us insight on his first experiences with his new daughter.

Interviewers: What is the most exciting part about being a dad?

Mr. Tozer: Having a beautiful daughter to love and take care of has been a great joy.  It is hard to articulate. Being a dad is awesome and I am looking forward to the ride.

Interviewers: Did you feel relieved or more stressed when Violet was born?

Mr. Tozer: I was relieved that my wife and Violet were okay. The lack of sleep the last several weeks has been a bit stressful but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Interviewers: Are you planning to send Violet to FCS?

Mr. Tozer: I hope my wife and I are fortunate enough to send Violet to Friends’ Central when the time comes.  There are so many wonderful things taking place in the classroom and on campus in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools.  I could not think of a better environment for her development as a person and as a student. For selfish reasons, it would be neat to see her on campus everyday.

Interviewers: What is the most exciting thing Violet did when she was born?

Mr. Tozer: She kept her eyes wide open for hours staring at her surroundings. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.

Interviewers: Did you cry when Violet was born?

Mr. Tozer: I got a little misty. It was an emotional experience for my wife and me.

Interviewers: Violets middle name is Riley that is sort of a mix of Ryan and Natalie.  Is that why you chose that name?

Mr. Tozer: I have always liked that name but by wife was opposed to it because then there would be two “Rys” in the house. A friend pointed out that it’s a combination of our two names and that sold her on using it as a middle name.

Good luck and congratulations to the Tozer family!
