Game Review: Super Mario Maker

Whenever someone says the word “Mario,” I’m sure you think of the same thing: Bowser steals princess, Mario goes after him, blah blah blah. But Super Mario Maker is a Mario game like no other! On September 10, 2015, Nintendo released Super Mario Maker for Wii U. This game was originally for Nintendo employees only, but the company realized that the game could make tons of money by being sold to the public. In this game, you create your own Mario levels! You can add in all sorts of enemies and blocks, plus you are able to create in four different styles!

The four different styles are Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros U.

Now, if you’re not impressed already, get this: These Mario rules aren’t set in stone. You can make enemies pop out of  blocks, stack enemies on top of each other, make enemies giant, or even give them wings!

Also, once you’re done creating your levels, you can publish them online. While you’re online, you can also play other people’s levels from all around the world!

The Course World, where you can see the best levels, most recently published levels. You can also just search for them.

Now, if you just like playing the Mario levels, there are two fun challenges that you can do: the 100 Mario Challenge or the 10 Mario Challenge. In the 10 Mario Challenge, you have ten lives to beat ten levels, but in the 100 Mario Challenge, you have 100 lives to beat sixteen “Internet Levels,” which can be very hard.

Overall, the rating that I give Super Mario Maker is… 9.5/10 stars! Sure, there are tons of enemies, power-ups, and blocks that I’d love for the game to include, but who knows? This game has a ton of potential for any future creators out there!
