Everything Super Bowl

Jacob and Charlie here, and we are going over everything Super Bowl!

Overview

Charlie here, and here is a quick overview of the Big Game itself. It is the championship game of the National Football League, featuring the winner of the American Football Conference and the winner of the National Football Conference. It is usually held on the first Sunday of February, unofficially known as Super Bowl Sunday. This year Super Bowl 51 is held on February 5, airing on FOX at 6:30 pm. Every year the Super Bowl is held at a random venue, this year’s being held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Last year the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 24-10, and this year’s participants are the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. Who will win?

The Teams

Patriots

Charlie again, and the New England Patriots have been one of the most unstoppable teams in the AFC all season. However, they do have a knack for cheating. For example, they filmed the Philadelphia Eagles’ practices before a win against them in 2004, and they famously deflated footballs before a win against the Indianapolis Colts in 2015 before they went on to win that season. In fact, quarterback Tom Brady actually had to miss the first 4 games of this season because of “Deflategate”. Despite that, he had, once again, an incredible season, passing for 3,554 yards and 28 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions all season. One of his top targets every season is tight end Rob Gronkowski, but in a game against the Seattle Seahawks, he left early with a chest injury, and never returned for the rest of the year. After 8 games, he finished the season with 25 catches for 540 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Falcons

Jacob here! The Atlanta Falcons have been a great team this Season in the NFC. Having only been to Super Bowl XXXIII against the Denver Broncos in 1999, they lost 34-19. The Falcons have not been to a Super Bowl since but are looking towards a win. This season, quarterback Matt Ryan has passed for 4,944 yards, had 38 touchdowns, and thrown 7 interceptions. One of the best players on the team is wide receiver Julio Jones who had 83 receptions, 1,409 yards, and 6 touchdowns.

Predictions

This game looks like it’s going to be a close one. Here is what we think will happen:

  • The Patriots will win the opening coin toss. They will defer, once again.
  • Tom Brady will have a big game, throwing at least 200 yards and at least 2 touchdowns.
  • Matt Ryan will also have a big game, throwing 3 touchdowns, one to Julio Jones.
  • The Falcons will snag the first score of the game.
  • Luke Bryan will sing the National Anthem in exactly 3:19.
  • Doritos will unveil a new commercial.
  • Papa John’s will have at least 3 commercials.
  • Ford will snag the 1st commercial of the Super Bowl.
  • Microsoft/Xbox will have a commercial for the Xbox One S.
  • Lady Gaga will not have a good halftime show performance.
  • At least 1 offensive player will be injured.
  • The puppies in the Puppy Bowl will be especially cute.
  • If the Falcons win the score will be 35-28, possibly in overtime.
  • If the Patriots win it will be 17-14.
