What’s Happening in the White House?: Weeks 6 and 7

Hi again, Dylan and Riley here, and this is our sixth and seventh week working on “What’s Happening in the White House?”. Thank you for all your support; we will be continuing this regular column until the end of the year. In the past two weeks, Mr. Trump has signed the new travel ban, ACA /“Trumpcare.”

Last Tuesday, President Trump signed his most recent executive order, the new travel ban. It is a lot like the last one but Iraq is off the list. It is in effect for 90 days again. It is still receiving a TON of backlash. It will not come into effect until March 19.

The populace is referring to the Affordable Care Act replacement as “Trumpcare.” The White House has been trying to suppress this name, and they are calling it “the ACA replacement.” This bill is being used to replace the ACA, more commonly known as Obamacare. The White House hasn’t released the bill yet but President Trump promises more people to be covered for cheaper.

Many people, Democrats and Republicans, have spoken out against this bill in many different town halls around the world. President Trump says this new plan will be much better than ACA but a poll put out by CBO says that 10 million people will lose coverage by 2018. We don’t know what this bill will contain but when we do find out we will be here to report it.

This week wasn’t very eventful. President Trump and his cabinet seems to have settled down and there have been less unpredictable moves on President Trump’s part. Also look at Ben Allens article, “ Rachel Maddow Releases Trump’s Tax Return” also on the newspaper website.
