The Elite Corners: Richard Sherman or Joe Haden?

Would you rather have Richard Sherman or Joe Haden on your NFL team?

One of the biggest questions in the NFL’s free agency period right now is the Richard Sherman trade. The Seahawks have been willing to give up Sherman of late. He is one of the best cornerbacks in the league right now, and the Eagles biggest need is a cornerback. So you might be thinking that this is a win-win situation for the Eagles right. Well, not so much. Sherman is 29 years old, turning 30 next March. Sherman is a restricted free agent after this coming season.

Well, who else could the Eagles trade for? Why not Joe Haden from the Browns? He’s only 27 years old, and he is a shutdown corner as well. Here are some of both of these players’ major stats:

  • Haden has 19 interceptions since he was drafted, 4 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 2 sacks, a pick six, 71 assisted tackles, and combined he has 377.
  • Richard Sherman has 78 assisted tackles, a sack, 30 interceptions, 2 pick six’s, 5 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and combined he has 330 stats.

The Eagles are looking for young but experienced players. They might also pick a corner in the draft. If the Eagles can get one of these elite players, then they could guide the rookies, and the other less experienced players. Either one of them could easily make the secondary thrive. The Eagles could have one of the best secondaries in the league. We would probably be able to shut down receivers like Odell Beckham Jr, Dez Bryant, and Brandon Marshall.

Who do you think the Eagles could trade for, and how do you think they could help the team?
