Top 4 Pizzerias in Philadelphia

There are many great pizza shops in the city, but what are the best? Today I’ll be listing my top 3 favorite pizza shops in Philadelphia, and one of Ms. Kenealy’s favorites, too.

1. Stella’s Pizzeria is a great pizza shop if you’re going for quick and delicious food. The pizza here comes in many different styles. You can order alcohol, soda, and other drinks along with your pizza. Stella’s uses a wood fire oven to cook their wonderful pies. The main seating area is an open room with tall ceilings and lots of windows. It can seat a lot of people with the many chairs and tables, and I have heard that there is outdoor seating in the spring/summer. Service is always great and food always comes out fast.

2. Nomad Roman Pizza is easily the best thin-crust pizza I have ever had. Their pizza is so perfectly covered in sauce, beautifully crafted crust, and amazingly fresh ingredients. You can see them making pizza in the back. The margherita pizza is my favorite, because the mozzarella is so fresh. While the seating area is much smaller, there are still plenty of seats for most nights. If you go out on a weekend or a Friday, you may need a reservation or have to wait a while for your food. The staff is limited due to the smaller space, but the small group of staff members are all very nice.

3. Gianfranco Pizza Rústica is the place to go if you want pizza, but don’t know what kind. Their menu is huge, and offers so many pizzas and appetizers that if you can’t find anything you like you probably don’t want pizza. Their food and drinks are great. The only negative I have about this place is food wait time isn’t great. It even shows on their website average wait time is 30-45 minutes. Other than that Gianfranco is a great place to go for big parties and great food. You should really visit Old City while you’re at it as Gianfranco’s is down by 3rd street.

4. Considered by Ms. Kenealy to be the best pizzeria locally to her apartment. Francoluigi’s is a small family-run pizzeria that has been operating since 1982. They focus on using the very best ingredients they can get. They also cater events such as parties. They offer seating and pickup at their location and delivery. Francoluigi’s is down by 13th street so it is easily accessible from most places in the city. It is closed Monday and Tuesday but has great hours every other day of the week.
