An Amazing Hidden Game: Slime Rancher!

You may have never heard of this game before, but I can assure you that it is one of the most underrated games ever. In Slime Rancher you play as Beatrix LeBeau, a young woman who was shipped to the far, far, away range in a small pod by the 7zee cooperation. When you wake up you get a game tutorial, and then the fun begins.

I have played over almost the whole game, and the only reason I haven’t completed everything is because the developers are constantly updating the game!  I was looking for a game that contained battles and cuteness at the same time, and then I found Slime Rancher. Slime Rancher is a game for people who enjoy adorable farming simulators, and also brutally murdering their enemies.

Wait… Did I forget to mention how amazing the graphics are? Slime Rancher’s graphics are smooth and the lighting really brings the world to life! There are many different items in this game, but one worth mentioning is the plort. You can obtain plorts by feeding slimes, so yes, I know what you’re thinking, plorts are slime poop. But plorts are never meant to be thrown out, because you can put the plorts in the plort market in exchange for newbucks, the Slime Rancher currency. Pink plorts are the most common, because pink slimes are the most common slime in the game. Since slimes and largos are very confusing, I will add an image below that will give you a small understanding of slimes.

There are so many different types of slimes in the game, and you can even combine slimes to make Large fusion slimes called “Largos.” Each piece of the game fits together like a perfect puzzle. This game is addicting to play, but in a good way. Whenever you log on to your slime world you will have to feed your slimes, this is the cute farming simulator part. After your slimes are fed, you can explore beyond the ranch, but beware of the Tarr! These beasts are formed when largo slimes are fused with a slime that isn’t one of the slimes the largo already contains, and they will try to eat you! You can fight them off with water, or throw them into the ocean. The gameplay is smooth and pleasant, Slime Rancher will never bore you. Slime Rancher doesn’t have a multiplayer option, and the devs said that they wouldn’t add one which disappointed many, but you can still share your gameplay videos online.

When you are playing this game, you get quite attached  to your slimes and your universe, but like all good things, Slime Rancher has to end. Slime Rancher ends with a song made by the developers, and when I first watched youtubers complete the game, they cried during the end song. I thought that they were wimps and they got way too attached to their game. When I logged on immediately after, I managed to complete the main game. Guess who cried at the end song? Me, I cried at the end song. Yep, that happened. Fortunately, even after the game seems completely done, you wake up in game like nothing even happened, With a small quest for extra golden plorts.

In Slime Rancher, you can trade with other ranchers for items or newbucks using the range exchange on your ranch. If you complete certain trades with the different ranchers, they might let you teleport to their ranch so you can complete quests and mini-games for the rewarded items. If you do enough work for the other rangers you can eventually use a piece of their range for yourself. This is an incredibly useful feature, because you can have an extra spot to plant gardens, corral slimes, and, store items.

There are many ways you can play Slime Rancher. I personally play on PC, but you can play on Ps4, Xbox, Mac, Even VR! Unfortunately, as of now Slime Rancher is not on mobile devices.

One of the most recent updates to Slime Rancher is the “Secret Styles” update. With this update you can go on a quest for cool new looks for your slimes! I haven’t found all of the style pods yet, but I will have some time to complete this quest soon. Another update worth mentioning is “Victor’s Experimental Update.” In this update you can go to Victor Huphries’s ranch where you will be tasked with going into a Slime Simulator that Victor built. In this world you have to use your eagle eyes to spot fake entities that don’t really exist. When you spot a fake, you suck it up with your VacPac! The fake item will explode into glitch slimes, and boy can they run! You have to make a mad dash to Vac up as many glitch slimes as you can, and then report back to Victor.

Slime Rancher is sold online for anywhere from about $15.00 to $20.00 USD. I got it on steam for $17.00 a while back, but I’m not sure how much it is currently. I would recommend Slime Rancher to anybody looking for a unique gaming experience.
