The Umbrella Academy: A Review

The newest installment in Netflix’s endless supply of original tv shows and movies is The Umbrella Academy. Based off of a comic book written by Gerard Way (former frontman for My Chemical Romance), the show takes place in present day and is set in an unspecified city and centers around a highly dysfunctional adopted family of seven. Each sibling has an unusual power, except one. The story begins with the death of their father, who they all loathed. He took them in at a young age and trained them to fight crime. The following are the seven children and their powers: One (Luther): Strength. Two (Diego): Extreme accuracy with projectiles (especially knives). Three (Alison): Mind control. Four (Klaus): Can speak to the dead. Five (no other name): Power to jump through time. Six (Ben): possesses monsters from other dimensions under his skin (often seen with tentacles. Seven (Vanya): power unknown…


An X Games to Remember

Earlier this year, one of the most intense and adrenaline-fueled events in sports was held in Aspen, Colorado. The Winter X Games are fast-paced, exciting, and wildly entertaining. For those of you who don’t know, the X Games is an extreme sports competition similar to the Olympics. The events held this year were: Skiing Men’s and Women’s Big Air Men’s and Women’s Slopestyle Men’s and Women’s SuperPipe Snowboarding Men’s and Women’s Big Air Men’s and Women’s Slopestyle Men’s and Women’s SuperPipe Snowmobile/Snowbike Snowmobile Freestyle Snow BikeCross Snow Bike Best Trick The first event of the weekend was the Women’s Ski SuperPipe. In this event, the skiers get three runs to do the most impressive tricks on a massive snow halfpipe. The highest-scoring run for each competitor is their final score. This year, Canadian skier Cassie Sharpe took home gold. She scored an incredible 94.00 with her mind-numbingly awesome third run….
