Mercedes and the Future of Self-Driving Cars

Uber is buying over 10,000 self driving Uber cars from Mercedes. This would help prevent car accidents made by humans because the robots are more accurate. “In fact, we turned out to be great partners,” Uber founder Travis Kalanick told The Verge. “By opening up the Uber platform to Daimler, we can get to the future faster than going it alone. It’s a future in which our cities and roads will be safer, cleaner and more accessible, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s next.”   The car has a luxury interior with the following: a wooden floor, a TV screen, lots of LED lights, and comfy seating. The car has a sensor that detects anything in front of it that is within a certain distance of the car. The car is great for people who do not trust humans driving. Personally, I think the car is amazing. Here is…

How Was the Black Hole Image Created and Why?

On April 10th, 2019, the first image of a black hole was released. The black hole is located in the galaxy Messier 87, which is 53.49 million light years away from Earth. This picture was created by a project called the Event Horizon Telescope, also known as the EHT. The EHT did this by using a network of eight ground-based telescopes all over the world to collect data and then generate an image based on the readings that the telescopes picked up.   When one looks at the image, you can see orange and yellow light radiating from the black hole. The reason for this is that black holes are super dense and have insanely strong gravity fields. Because of this, some light rays get pulled through, but some are far enough away from the hole itself that it they don’t get pulled through entirely but do get bent. This…

Avengers: Endgame Trailers Contained Fake, Old, and Edited Scenes

*WARNING: ENDGAME SPOILERS AHEAD* Avengers: Endgame will most likely be the biggest movie of the year. Its opening weekend alone put it in the top 20 highest grossing movies of all time, and as of May 8, 2019 it was at number 2, second only to Avatar. It was a truly incredible movie, full of surprises and twists sure to leave viewers dumbfounded. Due to the large scale of the movie, Marvel studios had to keep a lot under wraps. To do this, they altered some scenes in the trailer and filled in some old ones from the past. Here is a list of scenes from the trailer, that weren’t exactly a part of Endgame.   CAPTAIN AMERICA’S SHIELD   In the trailer, you may remember seeing a bloody, beaten up Cap strapping his shield to his arm, ready to fight Thanos. While this scene was included in the movie,…

The fun night took place at Friends Central School on May 3rd. Fun night lasted from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. There was a water ice truck with many many flavors. There wasa dance floor with music from students’ choices. There were video games (Super Smash Bros) and board games (Scrabble, Monopoly, Sorry, etc). According to IMDb, the movie has this description: “Teenage Miles Morales becomes Spider-Man of his reality, crossing his path with five counterparts from another dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.”   FCS students’ reviews of Fun Night: Konrad Smith 23’: “=Fun Night was fun. Since the end of the NFL 18-19 season, there have been many trades, signings, and rumors. The Jets signed RB Le’veon Bell to a four-year $52.5M deal. Rumors on this deal can be traced back to mid-September, during the 18-19 season. He missed the entire 18-19 season due to an injury. Hours before the it had been released to the public, he tweeted, “I’m back in the green baby, let’s get it.” Odell Beckham Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Browns. In return, the New York Giants received a first round pick in 2019 (No. 17 overall right guard Kevin Zeitler) and the Browns’ second third-round pick (No. 95 overall safety Jabrill Peppers. Upcoming Concerts

Summer is the best season for music.  Artists announce albums and go on world tours to promote them. Music festivals with incredible lineups are unveiled and new artists get a chance to show off in front of massive crowds. With this being said, here is a list of concerts and festivals near or in Philly.   MACHINE GUN KELLY- June 4th (The Fillmore) MGK is going on tour to promote his new album. The album is simply called “album 4” at the moment and we haven’t gotten any hints at what songs will be on it. Regardless, the show will definitely be high energy and exciting for any hip-hop fans.   TWENTY ONE PILOTS- June 8th (Boardwalk Hall) This concert is a bit of a drive, as it is in Atlantic City, but it will be completely worth it. I have seen many concerts, but Twenty One Pilots’ concerts are…

Should You Watch Hunter X Hunter Before Netflix Removes It?

Hunter X Hunter is a show on Netflix you may not have heard of. It did not get very popular while it was included in the Netflix library; this is why Netflix got rid of it. Just recently Netflix added Hunter X Hunter back and I suggest trying it out. Hunter X Hunter is a great show with believable characters, great story, lots of funny moments, as well as some intense fights. I loved this show while it was on Netflix. I would watch it every night. I knew every theme song from every season. As you can probably tell I loved this show. When Netflix removed it from the library I was extremely sad, but now that it is back I can enjoy it once more, and I suggest you do the same before it is removed again. The story is set in a world where there are people…

Premier League Title Race Heats Up

The Premier League title race is up and running, with Liverpool (as of March 6th) only one point behind Manchester City, with ten games left in the season. With the season coming to a close soon, we will be making our predictions for the end of the season and who will win the league. First of all, Liverpool looks like the most likely to win the league. Their goal difference is lower which means they are scoring fewer goals and letting in more goals than Manchester City. Manchester City has been thrashing teams like Chelsea 6-0. When they win games like this, it helps with their goal difference a lot, making them more likely to win the league. Liverpool hasn’t been scoring as much as Man City but they haven’t been conceding many goals. Now we will show our predictions for the top 5 of the league and also the…

FCS Winter Sports Round-Up

The winter sports season went very well and offered many different opportunities. The choices for winter sports this year were boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, boys’ squash, girls’ squash, dance, and swimming. There were not many cancelled games, and the weather was on our side. Michelle Crowley, the director of athletics and wellness had this to say about the winter sports season: “Generally speaking I am ready to go outside in the spring. In my opinion the winter season seems very long, but all of our winter teams have done very well in this growth period. The winter sports season in the end went very well.” The main thought expressed by middle school students was that they want to continue the sport they chose for the winter in their future sport careers. In terms of eighth grade, most students are thinking about the transition from middle school sports to high school…

Behind the Scenes of the MS Play: Hoodie

As the middle school’s spring play approaches, I realized not much had been released about it and that not many people were discussing how our middle school’s plays are designed and put into action. So I decided to interview the head of the drama department, Ms. Gordon and a Play Production service member, in the hope of learning more about it. I started by talking with Ms. Gordon.   Who decides on which play to create? I choose it. But I try to get input from students also.   What other adults help coordinate the show? I’m the director, so I spearhead the work and CJ Keller, our technical director, helps with the technical elements.   Can you give us a quick summary of what Hoodie is about? Hoodie is a conceptual play about adolescence and middle school. It’s about growing up. It’s about fitting in. It’s about appearance. It’s…
