Infinity War Review

Disclaimer: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD   Hey everyone, Luke and Jackson here, today we will be reviewing one of the largest movies of the year, Avengers: Infinity War. Infinity War came out on April 27, and instantly made waves in the community. Be warned, as this review will have spoilers from the movie that will honestly blow your mind if you have not seen it.   Infinity War is the newest installment in the MCU and Part One of the Culmination of the Avengers storyline that we know of so far. Naturally, a movie like Infinity War broke records, most notably the title for largest opening weekend in film history, making a foreign and domestic total of $630+ million dollars. The budget for the movie was $300-400 million dollars, meaning Marvel made back their expenses twofold in just one weekend.   The movie starts off with the main villain, Thanos,…

First Female Player Set To Make Overwatch League Debut

Tonight at 7:00 PM, the Shanghai Dragons will play the Dallas Fuel for the first game of Stage 3 in the Inaugural Season of the Overwatch League. This game is important for one crucial reason: The first female player, Se-hyeon “Geguri” Kim, will most likely make her debut for the Dragons. Geguri is a famous streamer on Twitch who is known for her great D. Va and outstanding Zarya play. In fact, it was later revealed that her play inspired Joon Hyuk “ZUNBA” Kim to play Zarya. ZUNBA is now a player on the Seoul Dynasty and is widely considered to be the best Zarya in the world. Unfortunately, the road to pro is not easy for aspiring eSports players, and for Geguri, one of the first well-known female players, chasing her dream of playing professionally was even harder. Geguri was known for a famous case back in 2016 when,…

Korea Enters Under One Flag at PyeongChang 2018

Ever since World War II, the relationship between North and South Korea has been one of the most complicated tensions in modern history. However, world leaders are trying to build peace and this starts at the 23rd Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. At the opening ceremony, the two countries marched under the Korean Unification Flag, and South Korean president Moon Jae-in watched with Kim Yo-jong, sister of Kim Jong-un, along with Mike Pence, Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, and others. In addition, the two Koreas will be competing with a joint women’s ice hockey team that features the best athletes from the Korean peninsula. The two countries are trying to use the Olympics as an opportunity to build peace, and are working to build a better future. As a second-generation Korean American, I was very surprised when I first heard the news. Many of my Korean friends and…

Juice Machine Recipes #3

Hey everyone! It’s Luke and Riley again back with another Juice Machine Recipe. If you are unfamiliar with the juice machine, then here is a quick rundown. About a month ago, the school added a juice machine. With this juice machine, you can fully customize your drink by changing which flavors you use, how strong the flavors are, the size of the drink, and which sweetener you use. Recently, the juice machine has received yet another UI (user interface) addition. You can now choose the size of you drink! The three options are 8oz, 16oz and 20oz. This update is helpful has it removes the need to pour your drink twice if you want 16oz. Today’s Recipe: Mr. Berry Yes, we know that this sounds cringy, but this recipe only includes berries, leaving only one possible name. It actually tastes great, though, with a tangy, sweet, raspberry taste. Step #1:…

Juice Machine Recipes #2

Welcome back everyone, it’s Luke and Riley here and today we are continuing our Juice Machine Recipe series. In this series of articles, we try to create recipes using the new juice machine outside of the cafeteria next to the athletic offices. As we’ve said, we hope to continue this series and any feedback or constructive criticism on the recipes would be much appreciated. If you don’t know about this new machine, it’s called Mix. If you would like to know more about this machine, check out our article from last week, Juice Machine Recipes 1. Now, let’s continue with the recipe. Recently, a new interface was installed, changing the system’s visuals. However, the options themselves remained the same. If you want to make ‘Bootleg Sprite’ from our previous article, you will see that Step 4 would transition to Step 6, skipping Step 5. During Step 7, press and hold…

Screenagers: An Editorial

On Friday, October 6th, the whole Middle School was gathered to watch Screenagers, a 2016 documentary about kids who spend too much time on their phones. Stereotypical This has been brought up a lot, but honestly, a majority movie was based on the opinion that boys play video games, and girls use social media. For example, there is not a female character who plays video games, and the only boy depicted using social media is the manipulator who asked a girl for nudes. Not only that, but even the adults in the documentary are stereotypical. Many of the moms in the film think that their child will get stalked simply because they use the internet, while most the dads are laid-back white men that don’t care about what their kids do. Not only that, but almost all of the boys are depicted as skinny kids with bad haircuts obsessed with…

2017 Summer eSports Recap (Part 1)

Over the summer, multiple competitive gaming events have occurred. Today, Riley, Jackson, and I will report on these. While we will be mostly focusing on Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive events, DOTA 2, Street Fighter V, League of Legends, and Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds will also be mentioned. This is only Part 1, featuring Overwatch, CS:GO, and PUBG.   CS:GO Rostermania- Over the summer, almost every tier one and a large amount of tier two CS:GO teams made roster changes. In this segment, I will be showcasing the most interesting roster moves of the 2017 rostermania. Fnatic: Fnatic decided it was time for a change, so the dropped 2 of their players, Olof “Olofmeister” Kajbjer and Dennis “dennis” Edman and brought in Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson from Godsent and Maikil “Golden” Selim from Fnatic Academy. Fnatic could have dropped Dennis and not Olof and could have been fine but overall…

You Decide: PC or Console Gaming?

Hello everyone, this is my second addition to my debate series. Today, Riley, Calvin, and Marcus will join me in a new topic: should traditional gaming be played on a console, or should we switch to computer gaming? Riley and I will argue for PC against Calvin and Marcus, who side with console gaming. First Topic: Price Luke: At first glance, console seems cheaper, but that’s not exactly true. An Xbox One can cost around to $350, and while PCs are best at around $1,000, you can run eSports games like Overwatch, CS:GO and League of Legends on a $400 computer. Riley: I completely agree with Luke. When one part of a console stops working or breaks, you have to buy a completely new console. On the other hand, when a PC part breaks or stops working, you can replace it and some parts can cost less than $30. Let…

Hello, everyone! Luke here, with Jacob, and this is a new series called You Decide. We will have a small debate, and then ask for your answer. Our first You Decide is about whether if eSports should be considered a “real sport.” When you think of sports, what do you think of? Tennis? Basketball? Soccer? Well today, Jacob and I will show you a new type of competition: eSports. eSports are, long story short, competitive video gaming. In this article, we will debate whether eSports should be considered a real sport. At the end, we will ask your opinion, and you can drop it in the comments section below. So let’s get started.
