Breaking Bad Sequel In the Works?

Breaking Bad is considered by many to be one of the best TV shows of all time, and with the series ending almost six years ago in 2013 it is no surprise that many fans have been left begging for more. And the fans have gotten more… kind of. Currently a spin off show named ‘Better Call Saul,” focusing on Walter and Jessie’s lawyer six years before he meets them is currently in its fourth season. The problem is with “Better Call Saul” is it’s not a true prequel or sequel, it’s just a spin-off. If there was a prequel, there’s not much room to work with since Walter was just nerd and a chemistry teacher, and Jesse was just a low-level drug dealer struggling with addiction before he meet Walter. But now fans have some hope. Recently Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman) has confirmed that a sequel movie is in…

What’s New in Fortnite Season 8?

On February 28 at 2 am EST, Fortnite got a new season. Season 8 for Fortnite has officially begun. The theme seems to be pirates with the official theme from epic being “X marks the spot”. There are around 100 items to be earned from the battle pass. Some of the skins include a banana, a pirate and what looks like a female Indiana Jones. There are also some gameplay changes. The planes, golf carts, sneaky snowman, shopping carts and chiller grenades have all been vaulted. Cannons have been added that can either be used to launch people across the map, or as a weapon. A volcano has also been added that is taking the place of Tomato Temple, Lazy Links, and Wailing Woods. The volcanoes have added vents into the map that will launch players into the air and allow them to reuse their gliders. Risky Reels has been…

Everything You Need to Know About Venezuela

Venezuela is a South American country that many consider to be on decline after their revolution in 1999. Many average citizens are living in extreme poverty without access to basic necessities like food and medicine. Recently many Venezuelans have been sick of the suffering and are wanting change, and it looks like change is coming and it may be bloody. Recently, opposition leader Juan Guaido has declared himself as interim president, and called for elections on February 3rd, because of controversy that previous elections were rigged., which of course never happened. Guaido has earned US and European support, and a US and EU backed coup may be coming soon. European countries such as the UK, France, Germany, Spain and many more have all supported Guaido and called for current President Maduro to step down.   Additionally current President Nicolas Maduro was asked if the current crisis in Venezuela could result…

The Government Shutdown and What It Means for Our Country

The border wall was one of Trump’s first campaign promises, and he is currently asking for $5 billion to fund its building. Trump has also decided to shutdown the government to try and get Democrats to fund his wall. To make matters worse, this shutdown is leaving thousands without jobs, while national parks like the National Mall are flooded with trash because there is no one there to pick it up. This fight is not without reason, as Trump has said on multiple occasions that the south border is bringing in drugs, gangs and human traffickers. Trump also made a speech on Tuesday the 8th about the current situation on the fight for border security.  Trump said “Democrats in Congress have refused to acknowledge the crisis and they have refused to provide our brave border agents with the tools they desperately need to protect our families and our nation.” Trump went…

Flyers Personnel Changes

On November 26th, the Flyers fired their general manager. Ron Hextall has officially been let go. He was been with the organization for over four years, joining in May of 2014. The Flyers fan base has mixed feelings on whether he really needed to go. Some say he did a good job of fixing the salary cap situation when he was hired, and the coach should’ve been fired instead. Others say he did not handle the goal situation and should’ve been fired. But regardless he has been replaced with Chuck Fletcher. Many are saying he is the one who will finally bring the Stanley cup back to Philly.   OPINION: In all honesty Hexstall was a horrible general manager and deserved to be fired. He did not handle our goal situation very well. The flyers have never had “that goalie” in a long time. We’ve never had a goalie that…

Third Parties in Politics

During the 2018 and 2016 elections you may have heard of some other parties that are not Democrat or Republican. You may have heard terms such as “Libertarian” or “Green Party.”  These parties are third parties in America’s government. Yes, believe it or not it’s not just Democrat or Republican, you have more of a choice. Now the third party that is the largest is the Libertarian Party. The concept of Libertarianism is having as little government (and as much freedom) as possible. You may have heard about their candidate in the 2016 election Gary Johnson who ran in the 2018 midterms and got 15.5% in the Senate Midterms. The next biggest third party in America would be the Green party. They are a left wing progressive party that is against war and violence and believes in Green politics. The idea of Green politics is creating a government that is…

Brick-and-Mortar Bankruptcies

Recently we have been seeing a lot of companies and stores who specialize in brick and mortar locations have come to a close. Just recently we have seen this take the profits out of another chain, Sears. Before Sears it was another chain franchise that was making millions back in its prime, “Toys R Us”. This is all due to the rise of online shopping. And it’s not just big brands like “Sears” and “Toys R Us”. Over time I’ve seen a lot of stores in my town close down because it’s just a lot easier for customers to buy their products online from big brands. Because of this rise big brands like “Kmart” have gone completely bankrupt. But why has online shopping caused so many stores to go bankrupt? Well “Supply and Diamond Chain Executive” wrote an article stating reasons such as, 24/7 shopping, World Shipping, Greater Choice and…

8th Grade D. C. Trip

On Sunday, September 30th, the eighth grade left for our annual Washington D.C. trip. This trip included the new African American History & Culture Museum.  The trip had a lot of build-up, especially about the lobbying opportunity to talk to our senators and congressmen about two issues: climate change and gun control. Two issues that are very relevant in today’s politics especially with millennials. But I wanted to know what other 8th graders in FCS thought of DC. Devlin Kolimago in eighth grade said that it was “fun and tiring, we had to walk a lot and the food was good just expensive.” “Lobbying was good and fun but it wasn’t arguing, it was more of agreeing.” Next I asked Dev Gupta, also in eighth grade. He said it was a lot of fun. He had already been to DC before so I asked him what he thought of the…
