Lost in the Woods: Two Ghost Stories

The One Without a Face

by Liam Gizster

Let me tell you a story…

A story of fear, ghosts, and the cold hand of death…

A story of consequences, and the horror that lies for those who don’t obey…

A story of the darkness of the wilderness…

So grab a seat and gather round…

And know…

Never do what Jack did…

Lest your soul be trapped forever…

Our story begins on a cold day of winter, 1773, in the U.S.A. Jack loved to explore. A bit too much. He lived in a single log cabin with his mother and father in the woods. They had left England to colonize the New Land. His parents had always told him not to go out at night. But Jack didn’t listen. One night he crept out of bed to the darkness beyond. Lighting a small candle, he crept into the woods. He walked for hours when suddenly a fierce wind shook the candle out. Jack was terrified. He was wandering through the darkness when he saw it. Lights! He ran toward them. The closer he got toward them, the farther they were from him. He was scared. He heard whispers in the trees, quietly speaking his name. Jack collapsed. He was tired. He was scared. He looked up to see a faceless body. He screamed. He looked the other way, but they were everywhere. There was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. He cried. “I am the One Without a Face,” said voices coming from everywhere. “I was like you. A wanderer. And that is why I’m still here. I didn’t listen. I had no mind, no face, but now, our roles are reversed. You have a face. I don’t. I want one. Give up your face. Surrender to the forest. You are nothing now. Your name is lost forever.” The One Without a Face reached out towards Jack’s face. And until the next fool wanders into the woods, Jack still wanders through the wilderness…

The Boy Who Couldn’t Hear

by Beau Greisiger

I’m going to tell you a story about a little boy named Sam…

Sam is now lost forever or dead!

Now listen up, and don’t do what Sam did.

Once upon a time there was a little boy whose name was Sam. Sam was a very curious boy. His mom would always find him snooping in the woods. His mom always said, “Don’t go in the house near the lake.” The boy would always get so close to going but he knew he shouldn’t. Finally he had the courage to go in, and he said “I don’t care what my mother says!” He grabbed the knob of the door and ripped it open–once he did, he found the world was fading around him. He screams, ” Mother, Mother”! But no one can hear his screams. Sam cries and cries but then hears clunk crick clunk crick. A creature comes bursting out of the stairs: “Who came in my house?” “I did,” said Sam with a quivering lip. “Why don’t come over, little boy?” Sam walked over, one foot at a time, very slowly. Sam finally met this creature, and it looked like a demon with a terrible evil grin. The demon grabbed his arm: “Why did you come in? Didn’t your mother say not to?” “Since you don’t listen, I’ll make that permanent!” He takes Sam’s ears. “Now, remember, Sam: you listen!” The demon laughed crazily…
