Door Decorating Contest: Glows and Grows

By: Carvel Camp ’26 and Izzy Marein-Effron

Right now there is a holiday door decorating competition at FCS. Some people love door decorating competitions and some people aren’t the biggest fans of them. So should we have these contests or not? Here are some glows and grows and we’ll let you decide.

Glows:

  1. It can be very exciting to decorate your door for a special holiday.
  2. We looking forward to winning a prize if your door wins
  3. It makes the hallways festive and full of joy
  4. It is fun working with your advisory
  5. It lets everyone be creative
  6. You get to express great ideas
  7. It is nice having a friendly and fun competition

Grows

  1. It creates a lot of stress and extra work
  2. It takes up space when everyone is working on the doors at the same time and no one is able to walk through
  3. If people cover the window people might interrupt teachers because they can’t see if students are inside learning
  4. Taking down the decorations take a lot of time

Overall door competitions are a great experience for all students and should be a regular part of student life at fcs but with some rules about covering the windows of the doors.
