Fantasy Football Tips for the 2022-2023 NFL Season

By Jonah Casel ‘27

After the SuperBowl, the 2021-22 NFL Season is officially over, and we at the Phoenix Inquirer are already excited for next year’s Fantasy Football Season. As the reigning champion of my league, I am especially excited to draft, make trades, and celebrate touchdowns with my team. I’m going to be going over some players you SHOULD draft, and players you SHOULDN’T draft. And remember, this was made in February, a week after the Super Bowl, so I might be wrong.

Good Pick: Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel had an amazing year last year, and he is going to have another one next year. Halfway through the season, he went into the backfield to play running back. He had a breakthrough season, catching passes, and running them too. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got the split position as WR/RB like Cordarelle Patterson. He was one of the reasons I won the championship.

Bad Pick: Christian McCaffrey

McCaffrey played 10 games in the past two seasons. He is bound to get injured again, but even if he doesn’t, he doesn’t have a good Quarterback to pass to him, and even if they keep Newton, Newton takes the carries away in the red zone. He will have good games, and if he doesn’t get injured, he’ll be good, but don’t take the risk, take Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, or Nick Chubb instead

Good Pick: Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow just made it to the Super Bowl as a second-year player. He’s been great, and with Ja’Marr Chase, he will continue to be good. He will have more SuperBowls in his career, and he will also have many great fantasy games. He will hopefully get better with age, and maybe get a better offensive line over the offseason

Bad Pick: Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson will almost definitely be on a different team next year, without Metcalf or Lockett. This will decrease his production, and he’s also going to be 33 next year. He’s getting older, and after coming back from his hand injury, he was not as good as he was supposed to be.

Good Pick: Jalen Hurts

Hurts had 10 rushing touchdowns last year. Even when he doesn’t throw the ball very well, he gets most of the touchdowns in the red zone. For a while, he was the #1 player is half PPR. Next year, he will most likely have another wide receiver, which will increase his passing points, and keep his rushing points.

Good Pick: Mark Andrews

I wasn’t going to do any more good picks, but Mark Andrews is such a good player, and an amazing tight end. He is possibly the #1 tight end in the league. With the Ravens’ offense, where he does very well, he will have another good season.
