What is 8th Grade Showcase?

At the end of your middle school career, every student is required to do 8th grade showcase, so… what is it?  This is the question I along with a majority of students have asked in the past and I will answer it for you. Showcase is supposed to be a presentation for students to “showcase” skills that  not only things that others may not know about you, but also describe you as a person. Usual things that students like to showcase are: singing, dancing, sports, cooking, making movies, and other talents and interests. Showcase should be thought about and worked on for a long time. Stream Study: East Branch Indian Creek

Throughout the past two months the 8th graders have been going to the East Indian Creek and collecting data. For extra credit thay could post their findings in The Phoenix Inquirer. Here were their findings. “Our job at East Indian Creek is to test the water and find ways to improve stream health. We tested for values, for example,  of dissolved oxygen and took weekly measures of the water’s pH levels. Stream Data: An Ad for 8th Graders

Stream Data: Ad for 8th Graders Something you should know about the stream data project due on 11/16/18 8th graders. I know many of you are stressed about the stream data website project due 11/16. If you are interested in extra credit on the project, you can get “Up to 10 points for publishing some aspect of your project in FCS Just the Facts or the Phoenix Inquirer (the middle school newspaper)”. Fortnite Season 6

Fortnite season 6 started a few weeks ago, and seeing how the cube event is going, this season looks promising. In this article I will go over new locations and skins in Fortnite Season 6. Skins Every season we have had an assortment of amazing skins. This season we seem to have a great set of Skins in the Battlepass. Calamity (Gold) Calamity is one of the first two skins that you get when you buy the battlepass. Calamity is a cowgirl that you can level up 6 times to change the look. DJ Yonder (purple) The iconic Fortnite llama finally gets its own skin, but with a catch. The skin is basically a Fortnite llama with headphones, with a disco vibe. So, wow! The past week has revealed a lot of “news” about what is happening in Hollywood, and of course we’re here to fill you in. Here are four things that were announced in Hollywood recently! The Coen Brothers are officially writing the Scarface reboot’s script First of all, the Coen brothers are signed on to write the script for the reboot of the 1983 classic thriller film Scarface. I’m case you aren’t familiar with the work of these brilliant screenwriters and directors, they have directed and written amazing movies such as Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Raising Arizona, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski, and quite a few more. They have shown massive range, making one of the best comedies of all time, The Big Lebowski, to a chilling drama that set the tone for modern mobster films, No Country for Old Men. The Make-Off

Calvin, Marcus, Kyle, and the judge Dev try to make the best thing possible in 5 minutes using the wonderful resources provided by the makerspace. For those of you who don’t know, the makerspace is a workshop located in the basement of the FCC. Anyone can come during lunch to make whatever they desire.
