Who would Friends Central students vote for in the 2020 elections?

In November 2020 the US will hold their quadrennial elections. The outcome of this election is most likely to be Donald Trump as the winner, but this does not mean that we should not look into the other candidates and get our opinions out to our parents on who we would like to see in office.   Dallas Wolfson (‘24): “Biden. ’Cause he’s not Trump.”   Zack Platt (‘21): “Bloomberg. He’s the mayor of NY. He was just announced, he’s a billionaire, the best mayor New York has ever had. Second choice would be Biden but I wouldn’t vote for him in the primary. I love Andrew Yang, but he won’t win. He also only has a couple of things he’s running on, and not looking at the big picture for the country. I hate Elizabeth Warren, she’s terrible. She pretended to be Native American… she’s just kinda odd. Kamila…

Clash Of Clans: NEW TOWN HALL?

On November 5th, 2019, the official Clash of Clans Youtube channel came out with a video that many have been awaiting to see in their subscription box for a long time. The trailer, simplified, is a goofy announcement in Clash of Clans’ signature style for the new up and coming town hall level thirteen. The trailer depicts various attacks and “hidden” symbolism that finds wacky ways to display the number thirteen, but of course this symbolism is quite obvious so that the average viewer knows that town hall thirteen is coming without having to analyze the trailer frame by frame. The trailer also reveals that there will be a new hero coming out, although this can also be deduced without having to think too hard either. What this article will do for you is not state the obvious, but break down the video in extreme depth, as well as giving…

Flik or Flop?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month, you should know that the previous cafeteria company, (Sodexo,) was replaced with the locally sourced Flik system. This change came as a shock to many. People didn’t know if their favorite foods would still be sold within the cafeteria, and were eager to find out what this new system offered that the previous one didn’t.   One of the most notable changes is the abolishment of the old meal plan system, where the buyer gets 7 points to buy any items until the 7 point cap is met, with the new meal plan system in which the buyer gets one entree, two sides, and a drink from the newly introduced ‘Waterworks.’ Another big change for us sandwich eaters was the addition of the panini press. Some minor changes are the introduction of the controversial ‘boxed water,’ and of course…

The Issue With ID Cards

Last year Friends’ Central installed ID card scanners on almost every door on the campus. This was just the first step in their new student ID card system. Each student has their own personalized ID card which includes their name and face. These cards have become a source of stress for a lot of students and staff. For the students, this stress comes from the constant loss of their ID cards and worries that they may pay up to the required monetary fine to get a new card.. For the staff the stress derives from the students always losing their cards, and are often forced to perform various tasks to make up for what would usually be activated by a simple swipe of a card. They are forced to take hours away from their lives searching up students names and hearing annoying bells. We decided to interview them ourselves to…

Philadelphia Fusion’s $50 Million Surprise!

The Philadelphia Fusion has decided to make a stadium for their team here in Philly, and this isn’t some small theater. The Philadelphia Fusion team has put $50 million into construction, and it is expected to start hosting games as soon as 2021. This is huge for video games as it shows that not only “real sports” can have stadiums. Overwatch was and is still one of the biggest games in recent times, and received a lot of attention on release. This will make it so that the game has a bigger player-base, and just branches out to new communities. We decided to interview some FCS community members who have heard about the stadium.   Q: What Do You Think Of this Upcoming stadium?   Isaac Dubb ‘24 A: “I think it’s stupid and I’m being serious here. Because Overwatch is stupid and more people like other games, like Fortnite….

Vampire Weekend “SunFlower” Review

Honestly, I have never heard of Vampire Weekend, so this is going to be a pretty unbiased review in the sense that I have no previous experience with their music or the band as people. I will be reviewing the music video along with the song. First, the music video. The entire video is split in two, with a black line separating two videos that occasionally split into four, or combine into one in sync with the music. The videos are often the same video, just edited or cut in ways so their usually showing something different than the other, such as a different angle of something happening, making it pretty interesting to watch at first. All of the music video is lit in a sort of orange and brown tone, and set around what seems to be a small market/restaurant. The video doesn’t seem to follow any consistent story,…

The Cafeteria’s Croissant Crisis

English muffins and breakfast sandwiches- the two don’t mix right, but when one of the only breakfast options at Friends Central is to get an English muffin breakfast sandwich, a lot of people are forced into getting this crumbly mess.  But there’s a catch! Seemingly randomly, one walks into the cafeteria, and in place of the bad muffins are perfectly baked croissants with the normal egg, cheese, bacon or sausage in between them. We have decided to investigate this strange phenomenon and get to the bottom of why the school can’t just have croissant breakfast sandwiches every day, instead of these horrible English muffins.   We started our investigation by asking a cafeteria staffer about a possible croissant schedule. From this questioning, we were able to get a complete breakfast sandwich bread weekly schedule. The results on the schedule shocked us.   Monday- Biscuit Tuesday- English Muffin Wednesday- Biscuit Thursday-…

The Forest: A Glitchy, Boring Mess

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for the video game, The Forest. The Forest started off strong. You’re stranded in a forest after a violent plane crash with a strange creature taking your son after the crash. You pick up an axe and survey your surroundings, maybe explore a little bit and run around with your friends. (Assuming you’re playing with them.) And then you see them–strange humanoid creatures running around in packs, and you’re forced to slash them with your axe, or you run away as you look behind you, anxious they’re on your back. This is the fun part of The Forest. And you better enjoy it, because it’s probably going to be the only fun you’re going to have. Actually, I take that back. There is some fun left to be had. You may waste some time building up a base, defending from attacks from the creatures. Then the…

Hytale: Minecraft’s Killer?

If you are not familiar with Hytale, which is highly probable despite the announcement trailer having well over thirty million views, I’ll give you a quick rundown of what the game is set to be. Hytale was named “Hytale” after its creators, the staff of the extremely popular minecraft server “Hypixel,” whose server holds about twenty thousand players on average throughout the day. According to the website, Hytale, “…combines the scope of a sandbox with the depth of a roleplaying game, immersing players in a procedurally generated world where teetering towers and deep dungeons promise rich reward.” There’s a few more things you need to know before we move on, and one of these things is that Hytale supposedly offers amazing scripting tools and tools for creators to make their own minigames within the game without going through all that trouble. There will be many servers on Hytale as…

New Grinch Recap & Review

GRINCH OVERVIEW Let’s just jump into it.   Now, The Grinch starts off with our beloved Grinch having a comedic encounter with his alarm, and is shown seeming to have trouble waking up. Despite this though, he has an extensive wake up routine that he is seen following every day as the movie progresses. In this wake up routine, we also get an earful of The Grinch soundtrack, but remixed to fit the current hip hop trend, with Tyler The Creator starring in the melody.   A little after some of the Grinch’s shenanigans, we are introduced to what seems to be our new main character, a Who mom who has trouble keeping up with her children whilst keeping the family afloat. But turns out it is actually the daughter of this mother that is the main character, a Who whose only Christmas wish is to make her mom happy….
