New Flyers Mascot: Gritty

Last Monday for the first time in over forty years the Philadelphia Flyers revealed a new mascot. His name is “Gritty.” What he is something I can’t answer because I don’t know. In my opinion he looks like Animal (the drummer) from The Muppets. Some people say that it is a bit creepy. I think that it just takes some time to get used to. The first time you look at him you’ll think, “What is this abomination? Is this a joke? How are the kids going to like this?” And I can completely agree with you because that’s what I thought when I saw him for the first time. Since I will be attending the preseason game against the Rangers, hopefully I’ll be able to him in person, and then I can really give my honest opinion. Additionally there is a lot of marketing work that goes into making…

Love, Simon Review

In the last few months, there has been a movie that has gotten a lot of media coverage. It’s called Love, Simon. For those of you unfamiliar with the movie, it is a film based on the book Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. The book and movie are about the coming out story of Simon, a completely ordinary kid who is gay, who is being blackmailed, and his story of falling in love with his anonymous pen pal, Blue. The book was hilariously written, a tear jerker at times, and relatable to all, gay or otherwise, but how does it translate onto the silver screen? Simple answer: surprisingly well! It was a movie adaptation, however, so some changes had to be made. First off, Simon’ family has changed a bit. In the book, the family spends a lot more time bonding, which has led to some amazingly humorous moments….

Scrap Mechanic & Horizon Zero Dawn Reviews

SCRAP MECHANIC **This Game is in development, there is a lot to be added and fixed** Background Scrap Mechanic is an in-development game on steam. So far there is only a creative mode, but survival is on the way. There are bugs, glitches, and limited materials, but no matter, this may be the best game I have ever played. That says something coming from me. It lets anyone with an idea create something from a car to a toast cannon, Yes, that is a thing. If you don’t like your creation, just add a mustache. That will make it much better. WHAT IS SCRAP MECHANIC? Scrap Mechanic is a simplified machine building game. There is a diverse world to explore with unique terrain, the player can build vehicles to traverse the world, or just play around. You could make wall climbers, planes, cars, hover pods, puzzles, or you can build…

NBA Finals 2018 Cleveland Cavaliers VS Golden State Warriors

It has happened again, that’s right the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State warriors are facing each other in the finals for the fourth straight year. Even though they were Down 2 – 0 at the because of the conference finals and somehow won both of there series. An even more crazy fact is that Lebron has denominated the finals. Since 2010 there has not been an NBA finals without Lebron James.     The Cleveland Cavaliers season has been very rocky this year. At the beginning of the year they had a whole new team with many new members. However, the day before the trade deadline the cavs traded away almost there entire team for newer, younger players. Throughout all this chaos Lebron stayed strong and averaged 27 points per game. Also, he did not miss one game this entire season. The Cavs went through the Pacers, the Raptors, and…

Quantum Break Review

Quantum Break —SPOILER WARNING!— THE ONLY LIVE ACTION VIDEO GAME Quantum Break was made in 2013, but looks better than 2018 blockbusters. HOW? Quantum Break utilizes motion capture, gif animations, live action cutscenes, and every visual effect possible. The beauty layers and creates a masterpiece that can make screenshots worthy of being exhibited in a museum. WHY DON’T I KNOW ABOUT IT? The story is the main focus, making the cutscenes a more common occurrence, which is probably why people forgot about it. People didn’t notice well thought out characters, an intense story, or emotional scenes. All they wanted was good gameplay and action gunfights. While this game does include moments like that, it is less gameplay focused than people wanted. People have changed, and the game was just made a little too early. If it was made a year or two later, the creators would be famous, and it…

Hawaii’s Eruptive Emergency

After the eruption of Kilauea on Maui, Hawaii’s biggest island, on May 3rd, residents have found the outcome intense. The US Geological Survey issued a red alert, meaning that a large eruption is imminent. The largest crater is launching ash into the air. But ash isn’t the biggest problem residents face. Sulfur Dioxide, a highly poisonous gas, is leaking out of the twenty one fissures in the ground. Authorities warn that if you feel even slightly affected by the gas, you should leave the area and seek medical help. Symptoms may include runny nose, coughing, and burning eyes. Ensure you get help quickly, because it can result in choking. Then, there is the lava. Although it is very slow, it is still extremely dangerous. Lava is currently spewing out of two fissures and can be launched over 100 feet in the air. Another concern is the water eruptions. When the…

MCU Phase 4 Predictions and Hopes

Hi everyone, this is Jared and Riley. We will be predicting what will happen in the future of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). We will be talking about the movies and characters that we think will appear in the next batch of MCU movies, Phase 4.   Spider Man 2: Spring Break After the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man deal, at least 2 more Spider-Man solo movies are in the deal. We believe that Marvel will build up to a Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six movie. In this potential Spider-Man movie, Spidey would against the classic villain Scorpion. We chose Scorpion because he is a classic Spidey villain and would be a great hint at the Sinister Six. Black Cat could be a possible ally for our web-slinging hero. Scorpion as a villain would be a great set up for the Sinister Six.     Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 This is one…

The Hyperloop: The Future of Transportation?

In 2013 the inventor and innovator Elon Musk proposed a plan for a fifth primary mode of transportation, after cars, planes, trains, and ships, which he called the Hyperloop. The concept is to create a vacuum tube down which a manned pod is propelled at hypersonic speed. It was to go in a loop between two destinations at speeds that would allow it to become the fastest method of travel available. Elon Musk called it “a cross between a Concord and a railgun and an air hockey table” and yet despite the insanity of the proposition he, working with SpaceX engineers, released a early systems design in 2013. At this point, it seemed guaranteed that Musk had a new venture in mind.  However, instead of founding another company, he publicly released the Hyperloop Alpha design with the goal to “see if the people can find ways to improve it”. By…
