Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the newest Pokemon game, and it’s very good. In this article, I’m giving my opinion on everything I’ve done in the game. (so far) Warning: Spoilers

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is possibly the most ambitious game Pokemon has ever released, and I love it. It has many open world areas, and all of them have many areas, each with many Pokemon. To progress in the game, you need to collect Pokemon entries in your Pokedex. If you get a certain amount of entries, you gain stars. These stars allow you to unlock new areas. Each quest the Galaxy Team gives you will take place in a new area. Therefore, you need to gain stars to complete the quests from the Galaxy Team.

Speaking of the Galaxy Team, they are the main characters in this story. Shortly after starting the game, your character will be “hired” by the Galaxy Team to complete missions. You will meet Professor Laventon, the professor of Hisui, who goes with you on your expeditions. You will also meet Akari, who can help you with crafting, something you can do to get extra items. Next, you meet Captain Cyllene, the leader of the Galaxy Team. When you complete a mission, you need to report to her in order to move to the next one. The final important member of the Galaxy Team is Commander Kamado. He is the one who sends you on the missions. There are quite a few more characters, but there are too many to write about.

There are also new Pokemon in this game! Some of them are great, and some of them are not the best. The starter Pokemon Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott each got new final evolutions. My favorite of the three evolutions is Hisuian Samurott. Instead of being a pure water type, it gained the type of Dark. Hisuian Typhlosion is still a fire type, but it has also gained the ghost type. Finally, Hisuian Decidueye is still a grass type, but has now gained the fighting type. Some of the other notable Hisuian evolutions are Kleavor, an evolution of Scyther, Sneasler, the evolution of Sneasel, and Wyrdeer, the evolution of Stantler. Some of my favorite Hisuian forms are Arcanine and Zoroark.

Finally, I just want to talk about the Pokemon Arceus itself. How are we supposed to pronounce it? I’ve heard mainly Ark-ee-us and Ar-see-us, but I’ve also heard Ar-koos from some people, who’ve argued it comes from Archaic, meaning ancient, and Zeus, a god from Greek mythology. Personally I think it’s Ar-kay-us, because of Archaic and Deus, which is “God” in Latin. Since Arceus is the God of Pokemon, it makes sense. Anyway, what do all of you think?

Final rating: 8/10, it would be higher if there wasn’t so much grinding.

Anyway, this game is amazing, go get it if you can.
