NFL Super Bowl Preview

NFL Super Bowl Preview

Jonah Casel ‘27, Noah Liebman ‘27 and Joel McKnight ‘27

The Super Bowl is here, and on the Sunday that only happens once a year, the best team in the league will be decided. The two teams that have earned the chance to play for the Lombardi Trophy are…

From the AFC…

The Cincinnati Bengals are an incredible team. Joe Burrow, in his second year, has led a team that no one expected would even make the playoffs, all the way to being the best team in the AFC. The Bengals’ offense has been great, with the addition of the 5th overall pick, Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals’ leading receiver this year. Joe Mixon, the running back, has also contributed to the Bengals’ success. He has the third most rushing yards of any running back this season. The Bengals’ offense is good, but the Defense also has been great. On the defensive line, Trey Hendrickson leads the way. In the secondary, Jessie Bates III has been the best safety for the Bengals, and all around, they have been a great team. But the only reason they are here is because of their kicker, Evan McPherson. He has not missed a field goal this postseason, and he is only a rookie!

From the NFC…

The Los Angeles Rams are also really, really good. They are the closest thing we have to a Superteam right now in the NFL. Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, Von Miller, and that’s just on defense. The offense has been great, with the addition of Matthew Stafford, and Cam Akers returning from injury very quickly. Sony Michel has been a good backup. The wide receivers, Kupp and Beckham have been great this season. Higbee has been a reliable tight end. The reason they are here is because of Kupp, who led the league in Receiving yards, Receiving touchdowns, and Receptions. He’s likely to be Offensive Player of the Year.

Players To Rely On

Joel McKnight ‘27

In the super bowl the players to rely on for both teams are gonna have to bring their A game because these two teams are in the Super Bowl for a reason and that reason is because of how good they are. For the Bengals I think the two players they can rely on are Joe Mixon and Ja’Marr Chase. Joe Mixon is a person they can rely on because on crucial third down plays he is the guy they can get the football to and he will get the first down; Also Joe Mixon is known for the physicality in his runs and how he can break multiple tackles then break through for a lot of yards. Meanwhile, we cannot forget about Ja’Marr Chase. This man is a beast from the catches he has to the speed he runs at. Once Ja’Marr Chase catches the football his immediate objective is to run as fast as he can past the Rams defense. This man can juke his defender like he wasn’t there and will almost 100% of the time catch the football and run for a touchdown. Now for the Rams there are three players they can rely on, Matthew Stafford, Odell Beckham, and Cooper Kupp. Let’s start with Matthew Stafford. This quarterback is one of the most precise throwers in the NFL this season. Matthew Stafford is a favorite for this super bowl and the facts add up. In the Divisional Round with the Buccaneers. Matthew Stafford threw a long pass under pressure to Cooper Kupp for a large gain and a field goal that won the Rams the game. The next person that we’re talking about is Odell Beckham. Odell is one of the best catchers in the NFL. He is a talented catcher and is a really really good wide receiver. That last person we’re talking about is Cooper Kupp and he is a person they can rely on under pressure with perfecting everything he does in the crucial moments.

MVP:

Noah Liebman ‘27

I think the MVP will be Joe Burrow only because he is a QB but I think the MVP should be Cooper Kupp even though I think he will lose. I still think he is the most important player in the Super Bowl. I think he will put up a stat line of 10 catches, 120 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Super Bowl picks:

Jonah: Bengals 33, Rams 30

Noah: Bengals 24, Rams 21

Joel: Bengals 38 , Rams 35

Max: Bengals 31, Rams 27

Jonathan: Bengals 28, Rams 17
